Recommendations and references. Ask your flooring contractor for references. Read the reviews on their social media pages and online search engines.
Get more than one bid. It is worth waiting for a second bid. Keep in mind the best contractors may be busy. Just because a contractor is the first one available for a job does not necessarily make them the best.
Ask questions! You may not know a lot about flooring products or construction, but your contractor should be able to answer all your questions and explain anything you do not understand. Do not be afraid to ask questions. If they cannot answer your questions or if their answers are confusing or they treat you like you are stupid for asking, you are better off finding someone else.
A legitimate contractor does NOT take all the money up front. Do not make last payment until the job is done and you are completely satisfied.
